Advantages of Low Chrome Cast Grinding Cylpebs
1. Consistent casting quality with a low risk of fragmentation
The process utilises medium-frequency electric furnace melting combined with precision casting in metal moulds, ensuring uniform dispersion of the alloy composition and minimising casting defects such as internal porosity and shrinkage; sulphur and phosphorus impurities are strictly controlled to reduce brittleness at the material source. Under the continuous impact and collision within the mill, the steel segments are resistant to chipping, corner loss and fracture, resulting in very few broken pieces. This prevents blockages in the discharge grating and avoids compromising screening efficiency.
2. Cylindrical surface contact delivers superior precision and efficiency in fine grinding
Unlike the point contact grinding of steel balls, cylindrical steel segments provide surface contact grinding. This ensures more uniform force distribution on the material, with crushing and grinding occurring simultaneously. The resulting powder has a narrower fineness distribution and more uniform grading, with fewer instances of over-grinding or under-grinding, making it particularly suitable for secondary fine grinding and ultra-fine grinding stages. Furthermore, the cylindrical structure provides strong interlocking friction, minimising the risk of slippage and idle rotation within the mill shell. This results in higher utilisation of the mill’s kinetic energy and significant energy savings.
3. Excellent value for money, with lower overall operating and maintenance costs
The low-chromium formulation requires no addition of precious alloys such as molybdenum or nickel, resulting in procurement costs significantly lower than those of medium- or high-chromium steel segments; the wear rate is uniform and gradual, enabling the media gradation within the mill to be maintained stably over the long term, thereby reducing the frequency of replenishment and downtime for maintenance. For fine grinding applications with moderate wear intensity, the total operating costs are lower than those of low-chromium steel balls of the same specification, making it the preferred solution for projects with limited budgets.
4. Wide Range of Applications; Suitable for Both Dry and Wet Conditions
Suitable for both dry and wet grinding environments, it is particularly well-suited for the fine grinding of cement raw materials, the grinding of fly ash in power stations, the processing of non-metallic mineral powders such as limestone, feldspar and kaolin, and the fine grinding of construction aggregates; it is not recommended for extreme conditions such as high-impact coarse grinding or highly acidic or alkaline corrosive slurries.
5. Flexible Specifications, Reliable Delivery
Standard sizes range from φ10×10 mm to φ60×60 mm, with aspect ratios customisable to requirements; mixed specifications can be supplied upon request. Material and hardness test reports are provided upon dispatch, and the product is available in various export packaging options, including tonne bags and steel drums. Delivery lead times for large-volume orders are stable and predictable.
