Key Features and Competitive Advantages
1. Linear contact grinding results in a low over-grinding rate and a uniform particle size distribution in the final product
The steel rods and material undergo continuous line-contact grinding, with a uniform and gentle force applied. Coarse particles are broken down in stages, whilst fine particles are less prone to over-grinding. The resulting material has a narrow particle size distribution and a low proportion of needle- and flake-shaped particles. This is particularly suitable for applications requiring high uniformity in particle shape and size, such as the shaping of sand and gravel aggregates, the production of quartz sand, and primary coarse grinding and classification. It directly enhances the grade of the finished product and the yield rate.
2. Dense, tempered microstructure with excellent fracture and bending resistance
High-quality rolled base material combined with integral tempering treatment results in a dense and uniform metal microstructure, thoroughly eliminating internal defects and delivering exceptionally high impact toughness. Under the high-drop, long-stroke impact conditions typical of rod mills, the rods are highly resistant to failure modes such as breakage, bending and splitting, ensuring strong operational stability and eliminating production accidents caused by broken rods jamming the cylinder or scratching the liners.
3. Uniform hardening across the entire cross-section, synchronised end wear and extended service life
With excellent overall hardenability, the rod maintains consistent hardness along its entire length and across its entire cross-section. Wear rates at the ends and the centre are synchronised, eliminating the premature failure issue of ‘tapering at both ends’ commonly seen in ordinary hot-rolled round steel. Throughout the wear process, the rod maintains a regular cylindrical shape, ensuring a stable effective grinding length and line contact area. The effective service life is 3 to 5 times that of ordinary hot-rolled round steel, significantly reducing rod replacement frequency and downtime.
4. High straightness accuracy ensures smooth operation without rod entanglement
The rods undergo multi-roll straightening before leaving the factory, with strict control over straightness, ensuring the rod body is perfectly straight and free from bending. During mill operation, the rods roll in parallel and descend in an orderly manner, minimising the occurrence of rod jamming, entanglement or stacking. This results in a stable operating current in the grinding drum and consistent grinding efficiency, thereby reducing the workload associated with on-site operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
5. Smooth, chamfered surfaces minimise damage to liners
The rod surfaces are smooth and free from cracks, scabs or burrs, with both ends featuring a rounded chamfer. During operation, the rods exert uniform rolling friction against the liners, without the scraping or impact caused by sharp edges or protrusions. This effectively extends the service life of the mill liners and reduces the overall cost of equipment consumables.
